A study conducted at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan focused on breakthrough infections in children who received the 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV13). The research found that most breakthrough infections occurred in children under 7 years old, with serotypes 3 and 19A being more prevalent in children aged 5-17 years in 2018-2019. The study also highlighted the importance of an additional PCV13 booster in enhancing immune responses in children with breakthrough infections.
