A study conducted by Baylor University College of Medicine focused on the positive impact of an inpatient early childhood literacy program on literacy practices and family experiences in a pediatric heart center. The program provided books, reading guidance, and a reading frequency calendar to families of hospitalized infants with heart disease. Caregivers reported improved access to books, increased reading frequency, and positive personal experiences while reading to their children. The research suggests that further studies are needed to assess the long-term impact of the program on sustained reading practices and neurodevelopmental outcomes. [Extracted from the article] |
