Abstrakt: A recent study conducted at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center evaluated the benefits and harms of a mailed outreach strategy for hepatocellular carcinoma screening in patients with cirrhosis. The study found that most patients detected with hepatocellular carcinoma were at an early stage, and only a minority experienced physical harms. The outreach strategy did not significantly increase early tumor detection or physical harms compared to usual care. This research provides valuable insights into the effectiveness of different screening approaches for liver cancer in patients with cirrhosis. [Extracted from the article]
