The article in the Journal of Plant Pathology reports the first instance of powdery mildew on Impatiens balsamina caused by Podosphaera xanthii in the USA. The study was conducted in North Carolina, where the disease severity ranged from 50 to 70% on affected leaves. Molecular studies confirmed the presence of P. xanthii, and inoculation experiments on impatiens seedlings further supported the findings.
