Abstrakt: While the Collegium Hungaricum in Rome, in Paris and in Vienna continued to operate after the Second World War, the Collegium Hungaricum in Berlin was unable to resume its activities. After the creation of the two German states, Hungary, as part of the Soviet bloc, had to rethink its cultural activities in Germany. As part of the cultural relations between Hungary and the GDR, which had been developing since the early 1950s and were not without conflict, the GDR operated a cultural institute in Budapest from 1960 and Hungary operated a cultural institute in East Berlin from the beginning of 1973. This paper examines the initial activities of the House of Hungarian Culture in the context of political aspirations and circumstances. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
