During the recent COVID-19 pandemic, various social and movement restrictions were enforced to contain the virus outbreak. As a result, both consumers and food vendors turned to online food delivery (OFD) platforms, which recorded significant growth and success in this period. However, there were concerns about food safety in these platforms as it is not clear if there are regulations in place or if existing guidelines are adequate. This conceptual paper aims to explore food safety practices and guidelines for food vendors in Malaysia that are relevant to OFD companies. Exploring these guidelines is crucial for OFD companies in establishing food safety for their customers. The findings will add to the existing knowledge base and offer practical implications for stakeholders, particularly the government and OFD companies, in establishing a secure and robust food safety management system.
