This article presents information on how an intricate weave of colour and texture has transformed a plot of weeds by the Derwent River in Derbishire, England, into a work of art by gardener Margaret Thiessen. Before moving to their present garden in Kingston Beach, a seaside town just south of Hobart, Margaret and Ron lived at Geeveston in the Huon Valley, where they ran a cattle property and cultivated apple tree. Margaret's skill for putting the right plant in the right place is evident at every turn. Her considerable garden experience is most apparent where aesthetic considerations have been balanced by practicality. |
