The author explores the practice of euthanasia among pets and humans. Topics covered include its similar complex emotional and ethical aspects that involves the difficult decision of ending a life to alleviate suffering or progressive mental or physical deterioration, and in humans, the considerations on the sanctity of life, and the patient's wishes, and the illegality of assisted suicide for humans in many societies. Also noted is the ethical dilemma on the potential misuse of euthanasia. |
