Researchers at Konkuk University in Seoul, South Korea conducted a study on the medial sesamoid position in moderate to severe hallux valgus, a foot deformity. The study aimed to assess the correlation between three radiographic measurements: weight-bearing foot anteroposterior, tangential sesamoid, and semi-weight-bearing computed tomography axial views. Results showed a strong positive correlation between these views preoperatively and postoperatively, with the anteroposterior view exhibiting a higher degree of medial sesamoid position displacement. The research, published in the Journal of Orthopaedic Science, concluded that all three views showed strong correlations postoperatively. [Extracted from the article] |
