Abstrakt: Researchers from Sapienza University of Rome conducted a clinical study comparing open and endoscopic surgical approaches for treating Graves-Basedow ophthalmopathy (GBO). The study included 18 patients who underwent orbital decompression surgery, with results showing a significant reduction in exophthalmos and proptosis. The researchers concluded that the endoscopic technique may be preferred for patients with optic nerve involvement, while the open technique could be considered for other cases due to aesthetic outcomes. The study was published in the Journal of Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery and peer-reviewed. [Extracted from the article]
