Abstrakt: | The article discusses a study on the role of sympathetic innervation of interscapular brown adipose tissue (IBAT) in the reduction of body weight gain and adiposity in male diet-induced obese rats through oxytocin (OT) administration. The researchers found that disrupting sympathetic nervous system (SNS) activation of IBAT did not affect the ability of OT to stimulate IBAT thermogenesis and reduce body weight gain and adiposity in the rats. The study suggests that sympathetic innervation of IBAT is not necessary for central OT to increase brown adipose tissue thermogenesis and reduce body weight gain and adiposity in obese rats.
