A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Helsinki focused on hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome caused by Puumala orthohantavirus. The study found that levels of circulating mucosal-like IgA, a type of antibody, increased with the severity of acute kidney injury in patients. These findings suggest that excessive levels of mucosal-like IgA could potentially serve as a biomarker for disease progression in hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome. The research provides valuable insights into the immune response to this viral infection and its impact on disease severity. [Extracted from the article] |
