Researchers at Zhongshan Hospital of Xiamen University conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis on the effects of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) on maternal and fetal outcomes in pregnant patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The study included 17 studies involving 2238 pregnant patients with SLE and found that HCQ treatment groups showed a significant reduction in preeclampsia, high lupus activity, gestational hypertension, premature delivery, and fetal growth restriction compared to control groups. The research concluded that despite some heterogeneity, HCQ appears to be effective and safe for pregnant patients with SLE. [Extracted from the article] |
