The article "WHICH SALT DO HORSES PREFER?" from Equus discusses the importance of salt as a nutrient for horses and the different types of salt blocks available for supplementation. Research conducted by Cornell University found that most horses readily accept various types of salt supplementation, except for Himalayan salt, which they may avoid. The study concluded that horses generally prefer plain salt over Himalayan salt but showed no preference between other combinations, indicating that horses will ingest salt regardless of the type provided.
