Abstrakt: This research paper was carried out to investigate social media, pornography and cybersex: implications for moral development of young people in nigeria. Four research questions were raised. Cultivation theory and social learning theory were the theoretical foundations of this study. The survey research method was adopted for this study with the questionnaire used as the major research instrument. Young Nigerians aged 18-35 years were selected as the population of the study. The researcher purposively chose four tertiary institutions in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The schools were: Akwa Ibom State University, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Heritage Polytechnic and Uyo City Polytechnic. The study had a population of 12,783 students with a sample size of 388. The paper concluded that the rise of social media and the accessibility of pornography and cybersex have significant implications for the moral development of young people in Nigeria. The normalization of explicit content through social media contributes to the desensitization of young people towards sexual content, promotes objectification of individuals, and distorts their understanding of healthy relationships.
