Abstrakt: South African provincial departments and municipalities in the local sphere of government constitute major vehicles through which service delivery to citizens is channelled. However, public service delivery challenges are increasingly characterising community lives at the local sphere of government in South Africa (Kenosi, 2011). The authors further posit that most of these service delivery challenges have been traced to the negative consequences of mismanagement of public resources and funds, corruption and maladministration. Often in South Africa, assessments and analysis of service delivery levels have been portrayed through the perceptions of the public more than the perceptions and experiences of public service providers. This study fills this gap through assessing and analysing the perceptions of the public service providers and those of the public service recipients through an empirical study in Limpopo Province, a structured semi-structured interview schedule was used in collecting qualitative data. The study analyses the influence of good governance on service delivery. The findings of this study reveal that the public service providers' conceptualisation of service delivery and public governance has a bearing on the way communities experience service delivery. Recommendations are provided on what constitutes good governance and administration and how these are critically linked to effective service delivery within the context of Limpopo.
