Abstrakt: Researchers are investigating alternate filler choices in Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA) mixtures to find sustainable and environmentally friendly materials for road construction. SMA is widely acknowledged for its superior resistance to rutting, long-lasting durability, and exceptional performance when subjected to large traffic loads. Conventional filler materials, such as hydrated lime and Portland cement, provide environmental difficulties because of their mining, manufacturing, and disposal. This study examines the feasibility of employing coconut shell charcoal (CSC) and gypsum to enhance the mechanical properties and performance of SMA pavements. A numerical model was created in PLAXIS 2D to analyse the potential influence of these materials. The most suitable content was chosen based on conducted experimental research, and the associated material attributes were used for the numerical analysis. The experimental experiments have shown that the mechanical characteristics are enhanced by the addition of CSC. The numerical analysis results indicate that the inclusion of coconut shell charcoal leads to an improvement in fatigue life and a decrease in total displacement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
