The National Assembly Standing Committee on Petroleum Division expressed serious concern over the misuse of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds and underutilization of Production Bonus and Training Fund by exploration and production (EandP) companies. A subcommittee was formed to draft new guidelines to improve fund utilization and capacity building within the sector. Companies were directed to limit environmental impacts, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance energy efficiency in line with climate change mitigation efforts. The Ministry of Energy highlighted the allocation, utilization, and transparency measures for CSR funds managed by EandP companies, emphasizing local welfare initiatives and training programs overseen by District Coordination Officers and District Commissioners.
