A study conducted at the GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Andhra Pradesh, India, compared the effectiveness of ferrous ascorbate with ferrous sulphate in improving hemoglobin levels among ante-natal mothers in a rural field practice area. The research found that there was a significant increase in hemoglobin levels among the study group that used ferrous ascorbate, with better compliance and fewer gastrointestinal side effects compared to those using ferrous sulphate. This study highlights the potential benefits of using ferrous ascorbate as a more affordable and effective treatment for anemia in pregnant women. [Extracted from the article] |
