Researchers at Juntendo University in Tokyo, Japan, conducted a study on the biological effects of stored platelet-rich plasma (PRP) eye-drops in corneal wound healing. The study compared the efficacy and sterility of PRP eye-drops with autologous serum (AS) eye-drops, finding that PRP eye-drops stored for 4 weeks promoted corneal epithelial wound healing with higher growth factor levels than AS eye-drops. This research suggests that PRP eye-drops could be a valuable treatment for refractory keratoconjunctival epithelial disorders. The study was peer-reviewed and published in the British Journal of Ophthalmology. [Extracted from the article] |
