A recent study from the University of Sherbrooke explores the potential of gingerol as a radiosensitizer in treating head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). The research aims to find safer and more effective treatment options for this type of cancer, which currently has limited treatment options with severe side effects. The study found that 6-gingerol demonstrated significant inhibition of HNSCC cell lines and enhanced the effects of radiation therapy, suggesting it could be a promising candidate for combination therapy in HNSCC.
