Researchers from Symbiosis International (Deemed University) in Pune, India, have developed a new approach called Dunnock-Scheduler optimization-based Light GBM (DkSO-Light GBM) for the detection of Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) using multimodal image fusion. This method combines Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCTA) images with fundus images to classify normal and abnormal retinas with high accuracy. The experimental outcomes show that the DkSO-Light GBM model outperforms conventional techniques in terms of accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and other metrics, making it a promising tool for automated DR diagnosis.
