Abstrakt: A recent study conducted at Philipps-University Marburg in Germany explored the role of long-term cortisol secretion in children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), focusing on sex differences, comorbidity, and symptom presentation. The research found that children with ADHD exhibited lower hair cortisol concentration (HCC) levels, with differences observed between boys and girls based on symptom presentation. Additionally, boys with ADHD and comorbid oppositional defiant or conduct disorder (ODD/CD) showed a blunted sympathetic nervous system reactivity (SR). The study suggests that HCC could serve as a marker for ADHD-related features and may help identify more homogenous subgroups within the disorder. [Extracted from the article]
