The experiment was carried out on an experimental field of IPGR, Sadovo during the period 2021-2022. The response of two cultivars of vegetative common winter soft wheat to nitrogen fertilization and irrigation applied at three phenophases was tested. To assess grain quality were used the traits the 1000 grains weight (g), test weight (kg/hl), sedimentation value (cm3) and fermentation number (min). The yield is calculated by the seeds weight from one plant and the elements that form it. The nitrogen fertilizer rate (17 kg of nitrate nitrogen) was applied once, twice and three times in combination with three different irrigation rates - 10, 20 and 30 mm. Fertilizer and irrigation rates were applied in stages of tillering, end of tillering, beginning of stem elongation and stem elongation. The mathematical processing of the data was carried out using SPSS 19 and Microsoft Excel for Windows. The obtained results show that there is a positive relationship between the seeds weight per plant and the 1000 grain weight of sedimentation value and fermentation number. The relationship between 1000 grain weight and test weight is negative. The distribution of the experimental data in the two-component plane shows that the yield and its elements together with the levels of the fertilization and irrigation factors fall into the first significant component. The wheat quality traits fall into the second significant component. The result of this distribution shows the polygenicity of the yield and its strong influence from the controlled factors fertilization and irrigation Wheat qualitative traits in are controlled by a smaller number of genes, and the influence of nitrogen fertilization and irrigation rates on their expression is weaker.
