A recent study conducted at Usmanu Danfodiyo University in Northwest Nigeria focused on the ABO blood group and hemoglobin electrophoresis in patients with acute Noma, a destructive orofacial disease. The research found that the majority of patients had blood group O and a positive rhesus antigen, with the AA hemoglobin phenotype being most common. The study concluded that these findings were consistent with the general population in the region.
