Abstrakt: A recent study conducted at the Medical University of Innsbruck in Austria compared the measurement of cytokines in induced sputum and nasal lavage samples in patients with mild cystic fibrosis. The research found that patients with severe lung disease had higher systemic inflammatory markers and sputum cytokines, while those with mild disease had higher levels of markers in nasal lavage. The study suggests that inflammation levels should be interpreted based on the compartment in which they are measured, indicating the need for further research on inflammatory markers in nasal lavage.
