A recent study conducted at New York University (NYU) focused on developing and validating a suite of novel sensor-based smartphone assessments (Psorcast app) for measuring cutaneous and musculoskeletal signs and symptoms of psoriatic disease. The research involved 104 participants with psoriasis (PsO) or psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and healthy controls, showing promising results in digital patient assessments and machine learning models. While the Psorcast digital assessments demonstrated significant clinical validity, further validation in larger cohorts is needed before implementation in evidence-based medicine or clinical trial settings. The smartphone software and analysis pipelines from the Psorcast suite are open source and freely available for use. [Extracted from the article] |
