Researchers from the Polish Mother's Memorial Hospital Research Institute conducted a study on the risk of pulmonary stenosis in patients with transposition of the great arteries after the arterial switch operation. They found that pulmonary stenosis is a common complication, with significant risk factors including pulmonary reconstruction with patches, aortic arch anomalies, and ventricular septal defects. The study concluded that pulmonary stenosis often occurs early after surgery and is a frequent reason for post-operative interventions and reoperations. The research was published in Cardiology in the Young and can be accessed online for further information. [Extracted from the article] |
