Abstrakt: A recent study from the University of South Florida explores the impact of cadmium exposure on the inflammatory arm of PANoptosis in murine monocytes. Cadmium accumulation from cigarette smoking can lead to chronic diseases affecting various organ systems. The study highlights the inflammatory mechanisms of PANoptosis and the role of gasdermin proteins in releasing inflammatory cytokines. Researchers found that cadmium exposure increased the expression of cleaved gasdermin D and E in murine monocytes, leading to dose-dependent cytotoxicity.
