The characteristics of traffic on arterial highway sections are a dynamic phenomenon, where the speed of vehicles and the volume of traffic largely determine the dynamics of vehicle movement on that section of the road. The MERR arterial highway is one of the roads that has a high density, so it is interesting to study the characteristics of vehicles that miss this section of the highway. The method applied to analyze the characteristics of the road is traffic modelling with the Greenshield method for observation for 2 working days Tuesday and Thursday during the morning rush hour. Statistical analysis using the Chi square and student-t distribution methods was carried out to recognize whether there was a change in the phenomenon of vehicle movement on different days on the arterial road section. The results obtained from this study were free current speeds for Tuesday 29.44 km/h and Thursday 37.53 km/h, while the density of perkilometer vehicles obtained was 257 smp/km and Thursday 315 smp/km. From statistical analysis, the data input was obtained that there was no significant difference in vehicle movement on Tuesday and Thursday for distribution tests with an error rate of 5%. The conclusion obtained from this study is that the MERR arterial road section is a busy road section with high vehicle movements on all weekdays, both Tuesdays and Thursdays.
