Abstrakt: The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe has taken over the management of the Dungeness and Protection Island national wildlife refuges from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as part of the Tribal Homelands Initiative. The tribe aims to cooperatively manage the refuges and continue their stewardship of the land. They also cultivate oysters within a 50-acre tideland parcel to support their economy and cultural practices. The tribe's goal is to grow oysters freely without the need for gear, as they have done historically. [Extracted from the article]
