Abstrakt: Transgender people often encounter stigma, discrimination, and inappropriate encounters in health systems. The purpose of this study was to determine the attitude of Iranian nurses toward transgender people. This is an analytical-descriptive study conducted in Iran. 393 Iranian nurses entered the study using the convenience sampling method. The attitudes toward transgender Individuals Scale was used to survey nurses' attitudes towards transgender people. Data was collected from 2021 to 2022. The data collected were analyzed using SPSS-14 software. A significance level of 0.05 was considered. The average score of the nurses' attitude in this study was 68.92 ± 11.69. The results showed a significant relationship between participants' attitudes and gender (P <.001), marital status (P <.001), education (P =.018), ward of occupation (P <.001), and having experience caring for transgender individuals (P =.004). The variables of gender, marital status, education, and having experience caring for transgender individuals predicted 0.158 of the total variances of attitudes toward transgender patients. According to the results of this study, the attitude of nurses who have cared for transgender individuals was positive. However, there is a need to increase cultural competencies and adequate education to provide the necessary care for sexual minorities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
