A recent study conducted at Manipal Academy of Higher Education in Karnataka, India, focused on nurses' emotional labor and intrinsic motivation in relation to patients' perceptions of nursing care. The study involved 71 staff nurses and corresponding patients from a tertiary care hospital, using various scales to collect data. The findings revealed that nurses frequently use emotional labor, particularly deep-acting, and have a high level of intrinsic motivation. Patients generally had a positive perception of nursing care, with good communication being the highest-rated factor. The research suggests that interventions on emotional regulation skills may help nurses cope with the emotional demands of their work. [Extracted from the article] |
