The article discusses the application of artificial intelligence algorithms in healthcare, specifically focusing on AI-enabled prioritization software known as computer-aided triage and notification (CADt). Researchers from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration have developed a software tool to evaluate the wait-time-savings of CADt devices in radiology workflows, showing that CADt triage devices are more effective in busy, short-staffed settings. The study concludes that the evaluation methodology presented can be applied to assess the time-saving performance of other algorithms that prioritize customers based on binary outputs.
