A study conducted at Yale University examined the risk of postpartum readmission after stillbirth compared to live birth. The research found that postpartum readmission was more common after stillbirths, with distinct indications such as mental health or substance use disorders and venous thromboembolism. Factors such as pregestational diabetes, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, and primary cesarean delivery were associated with a higher risk of readmission after stillbirth. The study highlights the need for targeted interventions to address the increased risk of postpartum readmission following stillbirth. [Extracted from the article] |
