Abstrakt: A recent study from the Chinese Academy of Sciences explores the role of pyroptosis in the oyster Crassostrea hongkongensis' immune response to bacterial infections. The research focuses on the activity of Ch GSDME, a gasdermin protein cleaved by inflammatory caspase-1, and its impact on cell death during Vibrio coralliilyticus infection. The study demonstrates that pyroptosis-related genes Ch CASP1 and Ch GSDME play crucial roles in mediating cell death in response to bacterial challenges in oysters. [Extracted from the article]
