Researchers at Duke University Hospital conducted a study on the impact of hip offset on patient-reported outcomes in total hip arthroplasty (THA). The study found that patients who experienced a decrease in hip offset postoperatively had lower physical function scores and higher pain interference compared to those with matched or increased offset. The research suggests that efforts should be made to avoid reducing hip offset during surgery to prevent worse physical function outcomes. This study was peer-reviewed and published in The Journal of Arthroplasty. [Extracted from the article] |
