Abstrakt: Researchers at Kerman University of Medical Sciences in Iran conducted a study on the establishment and mass breeding of Phlebotomus papatasi, a sandfly species known to transmit Leishmania parasites, in an insectarium in Kerman Province. The study aimed to investigate various aspects of the sandflies' biology and behavior, including their response to repellents, mating behaviors, and blood feeding habits. The researchers successfully maintained a colony of Phlebotomus papatasi in laboratory conditions for the first time in Kerman Province. This study contributes to the understanding of sandfly vectors and the transmission of leishmaniasis in the region. [Extracted from the article]
