Researchers at the University of Alexandria in Egypt have synthesized and characterized a series of furan-based compounds with potential antioxidant properties. The study found that one derivative, compound 9, exhibited exceptional antioxidant activity attributed to its oxadiazole ring structure. Molecular docking simulations suggested favorable interactions with Peroxiredoxin-2, a key enzyme involved in antioxidant defense. The research concludes that these compounds show promise as potential antioxidant therapeutics and warrant further development and optimization. [Extracted from the article] |
