Abstrakt: A new report from the Women and Children's Hospital explores the relationship between early pregnancy dyslipidemia (abnormal lipid metabolism) and the risk of preterm birth (PTB) in twin pregnancies. The study found that dyslipidemia was positively associated with PTB occurring before 37 weeks of pregnancy. However, this association varied depending on the chorionicity (placental structure) and mode of conception of the twins. The researchers suggest that comprehensive lipid profile assessment in the first trimester may be beneficial for monitoring patients and implementing interventions to mitigate adverse pregnancy outcomes.
