A recent study conducted in Kochi, India, by researchers from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has found a strong association between fibromyalgia syndrome and dysautonomia. The study recruited 30 women with fibromyalgia and 30 age and sex-matched controls, and assessed participants using questionnaires and electrophysiological tests. The fibromyalgia group reported severe levels of pain and disease impact on life, and 46.7% of participants with fibromyalgia tested positive for either sympathetic or parasympathetic dysfunction.
