A recent study conducted in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, explored the prevalence and association of autoimmune diseases among patients with rheumatoid arthritis. The study included 365 patients, predominantly female, and found diverse demographics and comorbidities among the participants. Prevalent conditions included diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and dyslipidemia. Other autoimmune diseases were present in 24.9% of patients, with notable associations with age at rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis and endocrine, rheumatology/dermatology, and pulmonary disorders. Treatment approaches varied, with prednisolone and methotrexate being the predominant options. The study provides valuable insights into the demographics, comorbidities, autoimmune disease prevalence, and treatment preferences of rheumatoid arthritis patients in Saudi Arabia.
