A recent study conducted by the All-Russian Research Institute of Phytopathology in Moscow, Russia, focused on the cloning of three Aflatoxin B1 oxidases (AFOs) from various edible basidiomycetes. These enzymes have the potential to be used for decontamination purposes in animal feeds. The study found that one of the enzymes, Pe-AFO from Pleurotus eryngii, showed the highest AFB1-degrading efficacy, specific activity, thermostability, and pH stability. However, all the enzymes experienced a decrease in activity when exposed to high temperatures or during freezing or lyophilization. This research provides valuable insights into the development of safe and cost-efficient decontamination methods for animal feeds. [Extracted from the article] |
