A clinical trial, NCT06617832, is being conducted in Denmark to evaluate different treatments for acute migraine. The study aims to understand how contextual and psychological factors interact in migraine treatment and influence adverse events. Patients with episodic migraine will receive six treatment conditions in a randomized order, including both active drug and placebo. The trial will assess various outcomes such as headache intensity, adverse events, functional disability, and treatment expectations. The study will compare the traditional randomized controlled trial (RCT) design with a balanced placebo design (BPD) to determine if the drug effect differs based on the design. The study is not yet recruiting and aims to enroll 128 participants who meet the eligibility criteria of having a history of migraines and previous or active use of triptans as acute treatment.
