Researchers from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) have published findings on Staphylococcus aureus, a bacterium that causes infections. The study focused on the therapeutic effect of natural inhibitors of the TRPA1 ion channel on MRSA skin infection in mice. The researchers found that TRPA1 inhibition reduced infection severity and abscess size, and impacted heat shock protein expression, the HIF-1a and MAPK pathways, and IL4 expression. The study suggests that TRPA1 antagonism could be a promising approach for reducing the severity of MRSA infection. [Extracted from the article] |
