The article discusses the challenges of using cardiac troponin T (cTnT) testing in patients with muscular dystrophy (MD). While cTnT and cardiac troponin I (cTnI) are considered equivalent in diagnosing myocardial injury, some MD patients have persistent elevation of cTnT without clinical evidence of injury. The origin of this elevation is still unclear, and further studies are needed. The article emphasizes the increasing demand for troponin testing in MD patients due to new therapies and the need for timely results for proper clinical interventions.
