Abstrakt: This investigation was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of Walpole’s solution in treating cases of obstructive urolithiasis in male buffalo calves. The materials of the study formed 6 clinical cases of obstructive urolithiasis having intact urinary bladder. History of anuria, clinical symptoms, ultrasonographic results, haemato-biochemical analysis, and urine analysis was used to diagnose the clinical cases. The confirmed cases of obstructive urolithiasis were treated with an ultrasound-guided tube cystostomy and a Foley’s catheter-assisted infusion of Walpole’s solution into the bladder. The affected buffalo calves were administered anti-inflammatory and antibiotic injections. The treatment and management method adopted for the treatment of obstructive urolithiasis was evaluated based on post-operative haemato-biochemical analysis, urine analysis, complications, and recovery time. The median time of initiation of dribbling of urine normally through the urethra was 4 days (3-5 days). However, the median time of free flow of urine from the urethral orifice was 7 days (7-8 days). It is possible to draw the conclusion from the current study that Walpole’s solution can be used to treat obstructive urolithiasis in male buffalo calves and that it is effective in dissolving struvite uroliths.
