Abstrakt: This article presents a comparative study of meteorological drought indices in the Adilabad district of Telangana, India. It emphasizes the significance of water as a crucial resource and the need to effectively manage extreme water events like droughts and floods. The researchers analyze different drought indices, such as the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI), Decile Indicator (DI), Rainfall Anomaly Index (RAI), and Z Score Index (ZSI), to identify and monitor drought conditions. The study area, Adilabad district, is described, along with its primary industries and crops. The article provides details on the weather data used and explains the calculation methods for the various drought indices. The text discusses the calculation and comparison of these indices in the region from 1981 to 2023, identifying certain years as dry or wet, with some discrepancies between the indices. The study emphasizes the importance of using multiple indices for a comprehensive understanding of drought conditions. Overall, the drought condition in the region has remained relatively stable over the past four decades. The article acknowledges the Indian Meteorological Department for providing rainfall data and states no conflicts of interest or funding for the research. [Extracted from the article]
