The operation of a two-level gas laser is theoretically studied in schemes with single- and double-sided transversal diode pumping Some analytical formulas, which describe the operation of a two-level gas laser with single- and double-sided diode pumping and make it possible to find any laser energy characteristics and optimal working medium and pumping radiation parameters necessary for maximally efficient laser operation, are derived for the case when the outer mirror has a not very low reflection coefficient. It is shown that the generation efficiency of a two-level gas laser can be increased by 11–20 by switching from single-sided to double-sided pumping. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
