The article discusses the use of inhaled magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) as a potential treatment for acute asthma. While the intravenous route of administration has been proven to be beneficial, the evidence for the inhalation route is controversial. Recent systematic reviews have not supported the use of inhaled MgSO4 for the treatment of acute asthma in both adults and children. The article emphasizes the need for more studies with larger sample sizes and longer evaluation periods, as well as the importance of considering dose distinctions and adequate preparation of inhaled MgSO4 solutions.
